A 12-year-old child died after falling from a balcony while on a Royal Caribbean cruise.
The young kid died on September 7 while aboard the Harmony of the Seas as it traveled toward Galveston, Texas, at the end of a week-long voyage. According to PEOPLE, he fell off a balcony on Deck 8, also known as the “Central Park” portion of the ship, home to numerous restaurants and boutiques.
“We are deeply saddened to confirm the death of one of our guests,” a Royal Caribbean representative stated. “Our Care Team supports and assists the guest’s family during this terrible time.
“We have no additional information to share to protect the guest’s and their family’s privacy,” the representative stated.
The youngster has not been recognized, and it is unclear why he fell off the balcony.
Only last month, a British man reportedly fell overboard from Royal Caribbean’s Explorer of the Seas cruise near Croatia. The search was called off after over 40 hours.
“Since the man has been in the sea for over 40 hours, we are already losing hope,” said Sanjin Dumanic, president of the Association of Croatian Sea Captains.
“We would all like him to be found, but 40 hours is a very long time, and we are losing hope that this search will end successfully” .
Then, in May, a passenger died after jumping overboard from Royal Caribbean’s largest cruise ship as it set sail from Florida.
The man jumped off the Icon of the Seas as it left a Florida port. He was rescued from the ocean and returned aboard before succumbing to his injuries.
The cruise line also published a statement failing to reveal information about his identification.
