3-Year-Old Minnesota Boy Not Expected to Survive Pit Bull Attack

BROOKLYN PARK, Minn. — A three-year-old boy from Minnesota was attacked by two pit bulls last week. His family says he probably won’t make it.

A story from the Minneapolis Star Tribune on Friday said that Covil Allen’s parents are getting him ready to be an organ donor. There is an online effort to raise money to help Covil’s parents pay for the costs of the attack in their backyard on July 19.

WCO-TV got a search warrant that said Covil’s family was at a Brooklyn Park home where dogs were being sold. The police said they thought the parents of the child were there to buy a dog.

The adults “started to defend the 3-year-old by using hammers and pick axes to get the dogs off” when the dogs started to attack Covil, the warrant says.

When the cops arrived, they saw the dogs attacking the child and shot both of them, the police said. One dog was killed, and the other was taken to a vet center and put to sleep.

The funding page said that Covil’s mother was also bitten, this time on the leg, and has had several surgeries.

According to the police, the attack on Covil and the attack on a 7-year-old girl by a wild dog on Tuesday are still being looked into. She wasn’t hurt too badly. Police said they killed the dog when it tried to bite a boy.

Inspector Elliot Faust of the Brooklyn Park police department said that bigger talks about dog attacks are happening with city leaders and elected officials.
