Dozens of Teens Were Arrested in California After Fireworks Went Off Inside a Mall
Dozens of young people were arrested at a shopping mall in Carson, California, on Saturday night because of a big commotion.
Around 5:20 p.m., the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department was told of a big group of about 200 teens at the SouthBay Pavilion Mall, the department wrote on social media.
The sheriff’s office says that during the party, teens set fire to a trash can and illegally set off fireworks inside a mall store. It is not clear what caused the group to get together.
The teens were told to leave by deputies, but they refused, according to the sheriff’s office. More police were called to help because the teens were making it hard to do business and putting shoppers in risk.
Because of the crowd, the mall had to close, according to KTLA.
The news source said that between 60 and 70 teens were arrested and given tickets in connection with the event. The teens were taken into custody after police spent about five hours at the mall.
The minors who were arrested will have to go to court at a later date, the sheriff’s office said on social media.
It has been stated that no one was hurt in the incident.
A report from KTLA said that there were also no reports of theft from shops inside the mall.
