Utah Father and Daughter Tragically Killed After Bulldozer Accident: ‘We Are Heartbroken’
A father and daughter from Utah were killed over the weekend when a tractor fell on top of their pickup truck.
The Utah Highway Patrol said in a news statement that Richard David Hendrickson, 16, and his daughter Sally, who worked for Lifetime Products as CEO and president, died in the crash at Ogden Canyon.
The accident that killed one person happened at 12:49 p.m. on Saturday. A tow truck carrying a small bulldozer hit a steep right-hand curve on a highway.
It was said that the steep turn let go of the bulldozer, which then slid off the tow truck and toward Hendrickson’s GMC pickup.
Both Hendrickson and Sally were declared dead at the scene of the crime. The release said that two other adult riders left with injuries that were not life-threatening.
Lifetime Products said in a statement that Hendrickson was “more than a company leader.”
“Richard was more than a company leader – he was also a visionary and a friend to many within our business and the wider community,” it said. “He is well-known for having a uniquely broad and extensive set of talents and interests.”
“His mechanical skills are legendary, and they often surprise engineers across the company.” “He was also very good at sales, management, and money,” the statement says. “But above all of that, he cared about people, both inside Lifetime and among its suppliers and partners. He was truly unique in his ability to treat everyone with respect, no matter what role or level they were in the supply chain. Uniquely, all of his other skills were tied together by his ability to connect with people.
Richard had a successful business, and he was also the head of a stake for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
In a message on X, Utah Gov. Spencer Cox told the Hendrickson family, “Richard was a friend and an amazing leader.”
“We are heartbroken by his tragic passing with his daughter Sally,” said Cox. “We mourn with the surviving members of his family and pray they will find comfort and healing.”
