Trial Cancelled for Ex-Northwest Arkansas Pediatrician Facing Rape and Sexual Assault Charges Involving Minor

SPRINGDALE, Ark. — Court records say that the trial for a former pediatric surgeon in Northwest Arkansas who is being charged with rape and sexual assault involving at least one child has been canceled.

Three counts of rape and one count of first-degree sexual abuse were brought against Guy Rosenschein, who is 70 years old, on July 17.

A January 2019 affidavit with a lot of redactions doesn’t say much about the case itself, but it does say that at least one minor victim was involved.

Court records show that the claimed events happened between 2002 and 2006. The Springdale Police Department looked into the case.

Rosenschein worked from about 2001 to 2012 as a juvenile urologist and pediatric surgeon.

Rosenschein was wanted for arrest on February 1, 2019.

Rosenschein filed a motion to dismiss on July 5 by hand and asked for “oral arguments as an opportunity to help the court reach an informed and fair decision.” Rosenschein didn’t want to be charged with the crime yet, so he wanted to drop the case.

He said that he was being held at a federal prison in Pekin, Illinois while writing the move.

Rosenschein was charged with a crime on July 17 and pleaded not guilty on July 22.

On September 11, there will be a meeting to hear pleas.
