Sources Confirm ‘Tennessee Three’ Dropped from DNC Thursday Night Lineup

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee is now home to WSMV4 and has been told that the “Tennessee Three” will not be speaking at the Democratic National Convention on Thursday night.

On Thursday night, Reps. Gloria Johnson (D-Knoxville), Rep. Justin Pearson (D-Memphis), and Rep. Justin Jones (D-Nashville) were all set to talk at the DNC. This is the same night that Vice President Kamala Harris accepts her party’s nomination to run for president.

The three will no longer be on stage, though, for reasons that have not been made public yet. The main programming at the DNC on Thursday nights is set to start at 5:30.

Pearson, Jones, and Johnson were fired from the Tennessee State House in April 2023 because they caused gun control protests from the crowd while yelling from the House floor.

On March 27, 2023, a former student killed six people at the Covenant School, including three children. This led to protests in Nashville and in the Tennessee government.

All three were put to a vote on being kicked out of the legislature for their acts, and Pearson and Jones were found guilty and kicked out. Rep. Johnson barely avoided being kicked out of Congress by one vote, but she was kicked off of all panels. A few months later, Pearson and Jones were both re-elected by their districts.

Rep. Johnson is running for a spot in the U.S. Senate against Republican Marsha Blackburn.
