An Amber Alert was sent out on Wednesday afternoon for a 9-year-old boy in Grapevine. The boy has since been found safe.

Grapevine police said on social media that the child was found safe and sound near where he was first reported missing.

When the 9-year-old didn’t show up to school on Wednesday, Grapevine police put out an Amber Alert for him. His family told the police that he missed the bus and walked to Glenhope Elementary School, but he never got there.

Police looked in the area around Mustang Drive and Tanglewood, which is close to where the boy lives. The post also said that they looked at his way to school and nearby parks.

Calling the Grapevine Police Department at 817-410-8127 was asked of anyone who knew where the child was. People who live or work in the area were asked to check their doorbells and security cams in case they saw the 9-year-old.

Before the Amber Alert was sent out Wednesday afternoon, Grapevine police first sent out an Athena Alert for the boy.

An Athena Alert is meant to be used between when a kid goes missing and when a statewide Amber Alert is sent out. The warning was named for Athena Strand, a 7-year-old girl who was brutally killed after being taken from her home in Wise County in 2022.
