A man accused of shooting and killing a man in Trotwood has been officially charged.

Timothy Lynch, 40, was charged with murder, felonious assault, and possessing a weapon.

As originally reported by News Center 7, Trotwood police were dispatched to the Belle Meadows Apartment complex in response to reports of a shooting.

A Trotwood police officer was filling up his cruiser with gas when he heard the gunshot.

When he arrived at the site, he discovered 28-year-old Erik Quiroz, who had been shot once, according to the Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Office.

Witnesses told police that the suspect, Lynch, was departing on a motorcycle.

Officers were able to stop him before he could flee.

Quiroz was rushed to the hospital and died.

According to prosecutors, the investigation revealed that two males were riding ATVs in the parking lot when one of them broke down.

As the men worked to repair the ATV, Lynch allegedly walked out of his apartment and told them to leave.

He is then accused of returning to his residence, retrieving a gun, and firing a shot that struck Quiroz.

Lynch is being jailed at the Montgomery County Jail under a $1 million bond.

He is scheduled for arraignment on September 19.
