The Social Security Administration (SSA) has announced the next round of payments for eligible retirees, with millions of seniors set to receive their benefits in September and October. The SSA confirmed that the final Social Security payment for this month will be issued on September 25. This payment is designated for those who meet the necessary eligibility criteria.

Who Qualifies for the September 25 Payment?

To be eligible for the September 25 Social Security payment, retirees must meet the following criteria:

  • Born after the 20th of the month
  • Not receiving Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
  • Did not receive their first benefit before May 1997
  • In compliance with all Social Security rules and regulations

Eligible retirees can receive up to a maximum of $4,873, although most will likely receive the average payment amount, which is $1,920.

Upcoming October Social Security Payments

As September comes to a close, retirees should be aware of the October payment schedule to better manage their finances. The SSA will issue the first payment for SSI recipients on October 1. Following this, retirees who started receiving benefits before May 1997 or those who receive both SSI and retirement benefits can expect their payment on October 3.

For other retirees, the October payment schedule is based on their birthdate:

  • Retirees with birthdays from 1st to 10th will receive their payments on October 9.
  • Retirees with birthdays from the 11th to the 20th can expect their payments on October 16.
  • Retirees with birthdays from 21st to 31st will receive their payments on October 23.

The SSA advises all retirees to ensure they remain in compliance with Social Security guidelines and to keep track of these dates to plan their monthly budgets accordingly.
