LANSING, MI — According to witnesses, a truck crashed into a gathering of picketing UAW Local 475 Eaton Aerospace workers on Saturday night, killing one and injuring numerous more.
The Jackson Police Department tells 6 News that they are “investigating a fatal crash” that happened at the intersection of E Michigan Ave and S East Ave. Police have not confirmed the number of people hurt or their condition.
When 6 News approached authorities for more information, they declined, citing an ongoing investigation.
However, the Michigan AFL-CIO, to which the UAW is attached, reports that the death was a 23-year-old striking worker. Jackson Mayor Daniel Mahoney adds that five people were hurt, with three being in severe condition.
