Father Allegedly Shoots and Kills Wife and Daughter in Bath Home Early Sunday Morning

BATH, Maine – Maine State Police are investigating a double homicide at a home on Crawford Drive in Bath, according to a Maine Department of Public Safety press release.

Lisa Bailey, 58, and her daughter Jennifer Bailey, 32, were fatally murdered Sunday morning. The suspect is Michael Bailey, 66, Lisa’s husband and Jennifer’s father.

Following initial reports that the perpetrator had fled the scene, the Maine State Police Tactical Team discovered Michael Bailey dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound inside the home.

Police responded at 10 Crawford Drive soon before 7 a.m. after receiving reports of a shooting. According to the announcement, officers located two ladies with gunshot wounds. First responders attempted lifesaving techniques, but both women died on the site.

The Chief Medical Examiner’s Office will conduct an autopsy on the three deceased.

The scene in a residential neighborhood was initially responded to by the Bath and Brunswick Police Departments, as well as Sagadahoc County Sheriff’s Deputies. A shelter-in-place order was issued in response to what police described as an “ongoing situation,” but the Bath Police Department withdrew it later Sunday morning.

The Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit and the Bath Police Department are looking into the incident and putting together a timeline of events.
