Deputy Shoots and Kills Knife-wielding Suspect During Disturbance in White County
Indiana State Police are investigating after a White County deputy shot and killed a man armed with a knife in Monon, Indiana, on Tuesday night.
According to authorities, at about 10:30 p.m., White County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a disturbance at a local liquor store following reports of an intoxicated individual.
Deputies discovered that the suspect had escaped to a nearby residence. Deputies arrived at the apartment and encountered the suspect, who was armed with a knife, according to police.
According to police, the suspect approached the deputies at some time, and at least one of them fired their guns, striking the suspect.
The suspect was taken to a local hospital, where they eventually died.
The suspect’s identify will be announced by the White County Coroner’s Office.
The Indiana State Police Criminal Investigation Division is now conducting an active and ongoing investigation. Once completed, the case will be sent to the White County Prosecutor’s Office for evaluation.
