Late Wednesday afternoon, a single-vehicle accident on Interstate 89 Northbound near mile marker 108.2 left a New York man with minor injuries.

At 5:39 p.m., Vermont State Police from the St. Albans Barracks were dispatched to the scene of a crash involving a 2014 Toyota Corolla with significant front-end damage.

The operator, Jody Rivers, 61, of Champlain, New York, was taken to Northwest Medical Center with probable minor injuries.

Rivers was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.

The preliminary inquiry found that Rivers’ vehicle was driven off the road by a silver Ford SUV that lacked a gas cap and may have incurred damage on its driver’s side.

Rivers and other witnesses gave consistent versions of the events leading up to the crash.

Authorities are looking for help from the public to find the Ford SUV involved in the incident.

Anyone with information should call the Vermont State Police St. Albans Barracks at 802-524-5993.

Fairfax Rescue, the Georgia Fire Department, and the AmCare Ambulance Service all assisted at the location.

The incident happened under a gloomy sky and damp road conditions.
