According to the Henry County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, a Clinton man was sentenced in a sex trafficking case back in June 2024.

According to the attorney’s office, Derek Brett Roberts, 44, of Clinton, has been sentenced to 23 life sentences for eight counts of first-degree sexual trafficking of a child, four instances of first-degree rape, and 11 counts of first-degree sodomy.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control conducted an online investigation that led to these charges. The investigation resulted in several search warrants for Roberts’ home and electronic equipment.

MSHP reports that their investigators discovered multiple files containing what seemed to be photographs and films of graphic child pornography, many of which were thought to have been generated by Roberts in his house with children under the age of nine.

According to the attorney’s office, Roberts was convicted on all 23 counts by a jury in June. Today, October 11, Circuit Judge M. Brandon Baker sentenced Roberts. LaChrisha Gray, the Henry County Prosecutor, prosecuted the case and asked the court to sentence Robert to life in prison on each count, as required by law. The sentences will be read consecutively.

After evaluating the facts and arguments provided, the court sentenced Roberts to life in prison on each count, with the terms running consecutively. The court’s sentencing mandates Roberts to spend 650 years before being eligible for release.
