North Carolina Man, 75, Arrested for Fatal Shooting in Road Rage Incident That Left Father of Three Dead
A 75-year-old man has been charged with the shooting death of a father of three following a road rage incident in North Carolina.
The Catawba County Sheriff’s Office also accuses Terrell Giddens of discharging his gun into the automobile in which the children were riding.
Giddens has been charged with murder and three counts of first-degree attempted murder. He appeared in court Monday morning to face the allegations. The neighborhood is now rattled to its core.
“My heart goes out to you. “I’m so sorry,” one weeping neighbor stated. The only remnants of a horrific event are a modest memorial and people questioning, “Why?”
“This is unbelievable. Isn’t it? “That something like that could happen right here in my neighborhood,” resident Dennis Couch stated.
According to investigators, the incident began as a routine disagreement that quickly escalated.
“The suspect has been charged, shot the victim, and then shot into the victim’s car,” Catawba County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Aaron Turk stated.
According to detectives, the 75-year-old Giddens pulled out a weapon in the middle of the road rage dispute and shot and killed Jeffery Guida, a 40-year-old father of three named by the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office.
Giddens then pointed the rifle at Guida’s truck, where his three children, aged 13, 11, and 2, were, and squeezed the trigger. “It certainly could have been worse if the children were injured or killed,” Turk told reporters.
During the melee, no children were wounded.
Detectives claimed Giddens fled, but due to witnesses, he was apprehended at his residence. He appeared before a judge on Monday morning, charged with murder and three charges of attempted first-degree murder.
“Sounds like the guy just snapped,” Herb Perce, a defense attorney for over 40 years, remarked.
Perce is not involved in the case, but he was present in the courtroom at the defendant’s hearing. “It’s a shame the man was slain. “It’s just a shame that this man will most likely spend the rest of his life in prison,” Perce continued.
Giddens informed the court that he would be hiring his lawyer and was not required to post any bond. “You think about it, and it makes you sick to your stomach to think that somebody like that would happen,” Rose, a neighbor, said.
