58-year-old Pedestrian Dies in Hit-and-run on Fries Mill Road; Investigation Ongoing
Authorities in Gloucester County are still investigating a tragic hit-and-run collision that occurred Monday night.
According to the Washington Township Police Department, the incident occurred around 8:10 p.m. on Fries Mill Road and Adele Drive, near the entrance to the Deux Mare Estates complex.
A preliminary investigation found that a pedestrian, later identified as 58-year-old Turnersville resident John DeMarco, was struck by an unknown vehicle while walking in the southbound lane on Fries Mill Road.
That vehicle departed the area after the collision and was not identified during the initial investigation.
DeMarco was brought to Cooper Hospital in Camden, where he eventually died of his injuries.
Fries Mill Road remained closed for around two hours until the site was cleared.
