Three Minnesota Men Dead in Iowa Wreck After Mysterious Shooting Inside Car, DCI Says
According to Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation officials, a guy was shot and died in a catastrophic wrong-way wreck with two other males in eastern Iowa in October.
According to the DCI, three Minnesota males were killed in a crash on Highway 20 near the 287-mile marker in Delaware County at roughly 3:35 a.m. on October 13. A 2014 Chevrolet Impala heading east in the westbound lanes collided with a 2018 Freightliner straight truck.
Officials claimed both trucks caught fire.
The truck driver sustained minor injuries, and all three Chevrolet passengers died. The fatalities have now been named as driver Tijuan Devell White, 50, and passengers Augustine T. Monboe, 38, and Tyrese Devell Johnson, 21.
According to the news release, White was shot before colliding with the truck, but there is no indication that the gunfire originated from outside the vehicle.
Mike Krapfl, special agent in charge of the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, said it’s unclear whether White shot himself or who pulled the trigger. “We may never know what happened in that car,” he told me.
White’s cause of death is unknown due to the considerable damage to his vehicle, Krapfl added.
