First Atmospheric River of the Season Targets Northern California; Up to 5 Inches of Rain Expected

Northern California is prepared for its first atmospheric river of the season, which will deliver heavy rains midweek.

The National Temperatures Service predicts light raindrops through early Monday, followed by cool temperatures through Tuesday. Starting late Tuesday, a southerly flow will warm temperatures as subtropical moisture enters the area.

Rainfall is predicted to increase Wednesday through Thursday, with North Bay valleys receiving 0.5 to 3 inches and some locations experiencing up to 5 inches.

Sonoma County is in high danger of flash flooding. By the weekend, rain is expected to spread southward across the Bay Area and Central Coast.
