Two significant adjustments to the Social Security payment schedule will take effect in the first quarter of the upcoming year, affecting almost 7 million SSI recipients nationwide. There will be two modifications to the Supplemental Security Income (SSI) program in the first half of 2025 as the Social Security Administration has finally verified the new payment schedule. SSI benefits are typically paid by the SSA on the first of each month, unless it falls on a Saturday, Sunday, or holiday.
The new schedule states that because February 1st and March 1st fall on a Saturday, SSI beneficiaries would not receive their regular benefits on those days during the first three months of the year. Benefits from March will therefore be paid on February 28th, while benefits from February will arrive in beneficiaries’ bank accounts on January 31st. It is crucial to emphasize that the new 2.5% cost of living adjustment (COLA) will already be included in these benefits.

How much money will beneficiaries receive in their SSI payments next year?
In order to help SSI users keep up with inflation, their monthly benefits will be slightly increased in light of the new cost of living adjustment (COLA) for 2025. The new COLA will raise their Social Security payouts even though the percentage was lower than the 3.2% from the current year. For example, the average monthly payout to beneficiaries will be $715, a $17 increase over the 2024 payment. Additionally, qualified couples will earn up to $1,450 per month, and singles will earn $967 instead of $943. - Maximum payment: If beneficiaries wait until they turn 70 and pay Social Security taxes within the maximum taxable limitations, they may get up to $4,995.
