Middle School Student Busted in Sick Sextortion Scheme with Hundreds of Potential Victims in New York

Stony Point, NY – A disturbing sextortion scheme involving a middle schooler in upstate New York has come to light, revealing that hundreds of young victims might have been targeted. Police in Rockland County announced on Wednesday that the investigation uncovered a series of coercive acts involving explicit images of children.

The accused, a student at Fieldstone Middle School, is facing child sex charges after allegedly forcing young boys to send graphic photos and videos under threat of exposure to their friends. This shocking crime underlines the growing dangers of social media among minors.

How the Sextortion Scheme Was Executed

According to authorities, the suspect pretended to be a girl online to convince male victims to send sexually explicit images. Once obtained, the suspect demanded either additional images or retail gift cards valued under $100 as ransom to prevent sharing these images with the boys’ social circles.

Stony Point Det. Andrew Kryger explained,

“They were requested for pictures, videos of themselves, to be sent and then they were requested that if they didn’t send more that the pictures and videos would be sent to their friend groups.”

The probe began in February 2025 after six victims confided in a school resource officer. Authorities stress that both the suspect and victims are under 16 years old. This case is particularly unsettling because, unlike many sextortion cases that occur across state or national lines, this one took place within the community.

Community Response and School District Actions

Following the revelations, the North Rockland Central School District issued a public statement urging more victims to come forward and assuring families there is no shame in reporting these crimes. Superintendent Kris Felicello said:

“Please encourage your children to come forward because there is certainly no shame in coming forward and bringing this to a trusted adult, so please let us know, let a trusted adult know.”

The incident has prompted an open call from law enforcement, requesting anyone who may have been targeted to contact police at 845-786-2422.

The Seriousness of Sextortion and Future Prevention

Local police emphasized the gravity of the crimes, with charges including use of a child in a sexual performance and promoting a sexual performance by a child. The suspect is scheduled to appear in court soon.

A police statement to lohud.com highlighted:

“This case highlights both the serious dangers our children face online and the extraordinary bravery of students who came forward. This crime is extremely serious and involves the victimization of students within our community.”

The statement also noted that sextortion is a global issue fueled by social media platforms, often unknown in scope to parents and guardians.

Fieldstone Middle School serves about 1,300 students, making this case a significant concern for the community at large.
