NJ Theme Park Selling Life-Size Dinosaurs Including T. Rex on Facebook Before Closing After 14 Years

Leonia, NJ – A beloved New Jersey dinosaur-themed park, the Field Station: Dinosaurs, is preparing for an unusual farewell after 14 years of thrilling visitors. The park, known for its life-size animatronic dinosaurs, including a towering Tyrannosaurus Rex, is selling its prehistoric inhabitants on Facebook Marketplace as it prepares to close its gates for good in 2025.

Owner Guy Gsell shared that the response has been overwhelming, with eager collectors, museums, zoos, and dinosaur enthusiasts across the country reaching out to own a piece of Jurassic history. After welcoming over one million guests in its lifetime, the park will officially close at the end of the 2025 season on November 9, 2025, marking the end of an era in Leonia.

A Unique Sale: Life-Size Dinosaurs Up for Grabs

The Field Station: Dinosaurs is offering approximately 25 massive animatronic creatures on Facebook Marketplace, priced between $500 and $3,500 each, with various conditions described as “used” or “fair.” Among the most eye-catching listings are:

The iconic 39-foot T. Rex, humorously noted as “slightly used, well loved!” and starting at $2,700.
A 16-foot rubber juvenile Triceratops with limited motion and sound capabilities, priced at $1,668.
The largest dinosaur, a 75-foot-tall Apatosaurus, listed at $2,860.
A smaller but feathered 6-foot-5 Velociraptor, on the more affordable side at $700.

Potential buyers are advised that they will be responsible for all deinstallation and transportation costs, and pickups can only occur post-closure of the park. The management is prioritizing buyers interested in purchasing the entire collection rather than individual dinosaurs.

Surge of Interest and Community Impact

Manager Lisa Fardella described the influx of inquiries as “an absolute zoo,” saying she struggled to keep up with the overwhelming demand shortly after listings went live.

Despite the closure, owner Guy Gsell reassured the community that the park’s signature entertainment and educational programs will continue beyond the physical location’s shutdown.
