CNS News– In a case that has stunned the state of Florida, two men, Trayon Morgan and Roy Blackwood, are accused of executing an elaborate fraud scheme, swindling Uber Eats out of over $1 million. The complexity and the scale of their operation have shed light on the vulnerabilities of digital delivery platforms and the audacity of modern digital criminals.
Trayon Morgan, a 21-year-old resident of Lauderhill, Florida, and his accomplice, 38-year-old Roy Blackwood of Sunrise, were arrested following an extensive investigation by the Broward County Sheriff’s Office. The investigation revealed a sophisticated fraud operation that began in January 2022 and spanned several counties in Florida, extending as far north as South Georgia.
The duo’s modus operandi involved a dual role-play on the Uber Eats platform. Morgan created numerous fake accounts, posing as a customer. He would then place grocery orders from these accounts, primarily targeting Walgreens stores. In a twist, Morgan would also act as the Uber Eats courier, accepting these orders for delivery.
However, instead of fulfilling the orders, Morgan would cancel them as the customer and, using the prepaid credit card provided by Uber for the purchases, would buy gift cards instead. This scheme exploited a loophole in the Uber Eats system, where the delivery driver, in this case, Morgan, had access to funds on a prepaid card to buy the ordered items.

By canceling the orders and purchasing gift cards, Morgan redirected these funds for personal gain. For their operation, Morgan and Blackwood reportedly visited 27 different Walgreens stores in a single day, committing fraud amounting to over $5,000. Roy Blackwood, the older of the two, played a crucial role in facilitating the scheme.
He was responsible for driving Morgan to various locations, aiding in the execution of this widespread fraud. This level of coordination and mobility was a key factor in the success and scale of their fraudulent activities. The Broward County Sheriff’s Office, during their investigation, observed the pair’s activities and managed to trace Morgan’s identity to other fake accounts linked to the scam.
