CNS NewsThe sheriff’s office says that a mother from Douglasville was caught and charged with murder in the death of her 3-year-old child from being outside in the freezing cold. Her name was Uriha Ridge, and she was found in the woods with her two small children. They were not far from Fox Hall Resort, where she had been living last Tuesday, according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.

It was “soaking wet” outside, and the mother was high on drugs. Sheriff’s officers said the kids were “soaking wet.” Ridge and her two children were rushed to the hospital, where her 3-year-old died from what police said was from being outside all night long.

According to the police, Ridge took drugs before she went into the woods and more while she was there. Around midnight on January 16, Ridge is said to have left the vacation hotel off of Capps Ferry Road in Douglasville. He didn’t call for help until 11:51 a.m. the next morning, which is almost 12 hours later.

Deputies say they think Ridge’s drugs are what caused her to take her 3- and 7-year-old children into the woods, where they stayed for hours in the rain and very cold temperatures while wearing thin clothes. Her toddler died and her younger child was taken to the hospital. The child died from “exposure to the elements.”

The child died from “exposure to the elements,” according to the sheriff’s office. Ridge is being charged with criminal murder, two counts of first-degree cruelty to children, and two counts of second-degree cruelty to children. She was told to be held without bond.
