A 6-year-old Girl Dies in a Hot Car After Her Mom’s Boyfriend is Said to Have Left Her There While He Was at Work Police
The girl died after being left in a hot car for too long; the man in Florida was charged with killing. Her body temperature was over 107 degrees.
Authorities in Manatee County say the 6-year-old girl was not breathing or aware when her 24-year-old boyfriend, Markise Outing, took her to a nearby fire station on May 20. Deputies said the girl, whose name they did not give, was taken to the hospital for more advanced care and that her dangerously high body temperature was checked there. It was said that she was dead that night.
The sheriff’s department says Outing told officers that the girl had gotten too hot while playing in the park. Police say, though, that an investigation showed that Outing picked up the girl from school and then left her locked in a car at his workplace for several hours, where it got to about 115 degrees.
The girl died of high heat, according to an autopsy that was done later. Police said they are still waiting for a toxicology report.
The outing was charged with aggravated manslaughter of a kid on June 25 and is being held in the Manatee County Jail at this time.
It’s not clear right now if Outing has made a plea or hired a lawyer.
