A Couple From Texas and Their Two Children Are Missing After Their Boat Capsizing in Alaska
A couple from Texas and their two children are missing after their boat capsized in Alaska.
Their boat flipped over in Alaska over the weekend, taking a Texas couple and their two young children with it.
David and Mary Maynard and their children Colton and Brantley were found to be the lost family. Based on the Anchorage Daily News, the kids are 11 and 7 years old.
“The whole family was nice.” “It’s just a tragedy,” Mary’s aunt Christi Wells said. “They were kind and generous people.”
A spokesman for the Coast Guard said that around 7 p.m. Saturday, they were told that a 28-foot aluminum boat with eight people on board was taking on water near Homer, Alaska.
Radio messages from officials told ships in the area what was going on, and a boat was able to save four people on a life raft. The search for the lost group began right away by the authorities.
The Coast Guard had help looking for the family from Alaska State Troopers and several good Samaritan boat teams. The search was over after 24 hours on Sunday.
“Suspending a search is never an easy decision. There are a lot of things to think about, like the search operations and the environment.” We’re very sorry for the loss of the people’s family, friends, and loved ones. This must be a very hard time for them, the Coast Guard said.
Wells said that her family was in Alaska for the July 27 wedding of her son. It was her choice not to say who else was on the boat with the Maynards.
She called the family a “wreck.”
She said, “We’re just shocked.” “It’s just awful.”
