Orangeburg County, South Carolina — Thursday, a former Orangeburg County prison guard was charged with giving illegal items to prisoners.

Tatyana Izlar, who is 26 years old, is charged with one count of giving inmates alcohol or drugs and one count of giving or having illegal items in a county or municipal jail, according to Deputy Richard Walker of the Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office.

“We were asked by the director of the detention center to look into the possibility that illegal items were being brought in,” Sheriff Leroy Ravenel said. An officer in charge of prisons was charged after that probe.

Deputies said Monday that investigators were told that drugs were getting into the Orangeburg-Calhoun Detention Center.

The investigation led to Izlar, who finally admitted to deputies that he was paid to deliver drugs.
