Prosecutors say an Alabama man broke into the home of an old woman and tried to rape her before a neighbor heard her cries for help and helped her. He was arrested Thursday morning in Mississippi.
The Mobile County Grand Jury charged Elvis Dewayne Henderson with Attempted Rape, Burglary 2nd, Robbery 3rd, and Elder Abuse 2nd in December 2023.
It happened in June 2023, when Elvis Henderson broke into the home of an old woman, beat her, and then tried to attack her sexually.
Someone in the neighborhood heard the victim’s screams and went to help her. They then took Henderson off the land.
“We will not stand for this kind of violence against our most helpless citizens,” says Keith Blackwood, the district attorney for Mobile County. “Mr. Henderson will be charged with every crime under the law.”
Henderson’s bond for the first charge of attempted rape was $30,000. His bond for the second charge of burglary was $20,000. His bond for the third charge of robbery was $10,000. His bond for the fourth charge of elder abuse was $10,000.
The DA Task Force works with the U.S. Marshals, the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office, and the Mobile Police Department. The task force moves quickly to arrest people who have been quietly charged, which means that their cases can start in court much sooner than before.
