A Suspect in the Kidnapping of a 4-year-old Girl Was Caught, and the Child Was Found
Police in Santa Monica arrested a lady on suspicion of taking a 4-year-old girl from a restaurant, according to the police.
At 12:10 p.m. on Friday, a woman called the Santa Monica Police Department in a panic because her 4-year-old niece had been taken from a restaurant in the 1900 block of Lincoln Boulevard. Police say that officers who responded got a video of the accused kidnapper, a woman in her 30s, and sent it to other units.
Over 30 police officers and civilians swarmed the area to look for the child and the person who took her. The stolen girl and the suspect were found at the Holiday Motel, which is less than half a mile from the restaurant, almost 30 minutes after the 911 call. The child was not hurt, according to the cops.
Breanna Shields, who is 31 years old, was arrested on suspicion of kidnapping, which is a felony crime that can get you up to 11 years in jail. It is said by police that Shields had been staying at the hotel for a long time.
The amount of her bail is $100,000. It is set for Tuesday when she will be in court.
