A Truck Holding 40,000 Pounds of Strawberries Flips Over, Blocking Traffic
A semi-truck that was transporting forty thousand pounds of strawberries flipped over on a high hill in the state of California, causing a traffic jam in the literal sense. The berries blocked the road for several hours as the driver of the vehicle cleaned them up.
The vehicle flipped over on northbound US Highway 101 at the intersection with Interstate Highway 880 in San Jose, California, early on Wednesday morning, according to a news statement issued by the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
According to the department, the difficult circumstance occurred soon before three in the morning.
On account of the fact that teams were working for hours to clear up the mess, officials requested that drivers be quite flexible.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the enormous tractor-trailer stayed resting on its side for a number of hours while workers transferred the strawberries that were still whole to a second vehicle so that they could be delivered to their ultimate destination.
A loader and a tow truck were seen working together to remove the highway ramp of the thousands of berries that were spread over it, as captured on video and in photographs taken at the scene.
In the aftermath of the tragedy, the ramps remained closed for approximately eleven hours.
It was reported by the CHP that there were no injuries.
