A Woman Dies at Chicago O’hare After Getting Caught in a Suitcase Carousel
Police told ABC News that a woman died Thursday morning at Chicago O’Hare International Airport after getting caught in a baggage carousel.
The Chicago Police Department says the woman was 57 years old and has not been officially identified yet.
A Department of Labor representative said the woman was not working at the airport but was a member of the public.
A woman was “pinned in machinery,” according to the Chicago Fire Department, when they were called to Terminal 5 at 7:45 a.m. Thursday.
“Entangled in the conveyer belt system used to move baggage,” fire officials said they found the woman when they got to the scene.
At the scene, medics said the woman was dead.
CCTV video from the area showed the woman “entering an unoccupied restricted area at 2:27 a.m.”, according to the police.
According to the cops, she was found around 7:30 a.m., and emergency services were called to the scene.
The place is now a crime scene, and the Chicago Police Department is looking into it.
