Accused California Man Cut Off the Heads of Old Parents and a Dog at a Mobile Home Park
Authorities said Wednesday that a man from southern California was caught after they said he cut off the heads of his elderly parents and the family dog.
A news statement from the Orange County Sheriff’s Department says that 41-year-old Joseph Brandon Gerdvil is accused of killing Ronald Walter Gerdvil, 77, and Antoinette Gerdvill, 79. They also killed their dog.
The police said they were called to a mobile home in San Juan Capistrano, California, on July 9 for a report of domestic abuse.
Deputies were told not long after the bodies were found that a “bloody male” was chasing a maintenance worker from the mobile home community and reportedly stealing the worker’s golf cart.
FOX 5 San Diego says that Gerdvil was then found in the golf cart near an exit for a local bike trail. This is where at least one officer shot him.
He was hit several times and taken to the hospital, where his situation is critical but stable. It’s not clear if Gerdvil had a gun on him.
David Desmond told FOX 11 that the morning before the horrible attack, he saw Gerdvil getting into a fight with his father.
“Younger guy was right in his face, pointing his finger at him,” Desmond told the news source. “I didn’t hear what they were saying, but he looked really angry and the other guy was old.”
The news outlet was told by another neighbor that Gerdvil was living with his folks because he was having trouble with drugs.
Police say Gerdvil will be charged with two counts of murder once he is physically cleared. He is still in the hospital.
