Alaska Offers $3,284 Financial Relief for 2024: Here’s Who Qualifies and How to Apply
The Alaska Department of Revenue has launched a program to assist people in meeting their financial obligations in 2024. The program provides up to $3,284 to help households cope with growing living costs, particularly the high cost of energy in the winter.
The total amount of $3,284 includes the Permanent Fund Dividend (PFD) plus the Energy Relief amount. Alaska’s PFD has been established for a long time and provides $2,634 to individuals each year. It is funded by the state’s oil and other natural resource revenues.
In contrast, the $650 Energy Relief Payment is a one-time program designed to assist people with greater winter heating expenditures.
All in all, these payments provide a significant amount of money to assist with both daily living expenses and the issues caused by excessive energy bills.
Who is Eligible for This Payment?
Residents must meet specific standards to be eligible for the full $3,284 award. Applicants must have a valid Social Security Number (SSN) and demonstrate that they are lawfully living in Alaska.
Furthermore, the program is available to seniors aged 65 and above, as well as disabled adults aged 18 and up.
To keep the plan honest, applicants must not have a criminal record and pay their taxes on time. For example, this ensures that the money goes to law-abiding citizens, with special consideration given to the elderly and disabled.
Payment Distribution Dates:
The final wave of rewards was distributed on October 3, 2024, to those who confirmed their status by September 20, 2024.
People who lived in the area and met the eligibility requirements between September 21 and October 14 will receive a second set of rewards on October 24, 2024.
“The division will begin sending out the 2024 PFD applications that can be paid for in two installments.”
The state’s official website states: “The FIRST payment will be sent on October 3, 2024, to eligible applicants who filed online and chose direct deposit as their payment method.”
“The SECOND payment will be sent to eligible applicants who filed on paper or chose a paper check as payment on October 24, 2024.” Monthly payments will continue as long as applications are in a payment-enabled state.
