MEMPHIS, Tenn.— Police say four people they think are part of the Young Mob gang have been charged with many crimes in connection with shootings that happened at restaurants in Harbor Town and Whitehaven.

Last year, someone was shot and killed while people were eating outside of Tug’s Casual Grill on Harbor Town Circle. Police have also named that person as a suspect.

Brain Lackland, also known as “Stupid Duke,” was charged with Attempted First Degree Murder, Using a Firearm During the Commission of a Dangerous Felony, Arranging to Commit First Degree Murder, and Reckless Endangerment with a Deadly Weapon. He is 34 years old.

According to the charges, Paul Nelson, who is 31 years old, tried to kill someone in the first degree, used a gun while committing a dangerous crime, planned to kill someone in the first degree, and put someone in danger without thinking.

Around 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 13, 2023, police were called to Tug’s for a shooting and an attempted robbery.

People who saw what happened say that the suspects pulled up, got out of a car, and began shooting at someone who was sitting on the balcony.

According to MPD, the suspects drove off in a black Nissan Altima. A short time later, someone in the same black Nissan dropped off Roderick Winston at a nearby fire station. Winston passed away at the hospital later on.

At the time, one person was called both a witness and a victim. He was found when he fell through the restaurant roof and was hiding there.

The case was looked into by both the Homicide Bureau and the Multi-Agency Gang Unit. MPD said that during the investigation, it was found that Brian Lackland and Paul Nelson, both members of the Young Mob, were to blame.

Both men are now being held. Police said that more charges are likely to be brought.

He has a $1 million bond and is being held in the Shelby County jail. We do not have any information about Lackland’s booking.

Police said two more people they think are part of the Young Mob gang have been charged in connection with the shooting death at the East Shelby Drive McDonald’s in May 2022.

While in a car, Jasper Strickland was shot several times and was declared dead at the hospital.

He was charged with First Degree Murder and Attempted First Degree Murder. Mohamed Samba is 26 years old.

Twenty-two-year-old Quentin Moss was charged with murder in the first degree and planning to murder in the first degree.

Moss and Samba have been arrested, and police say that more charges are likely to be brought against them.
