Appleton Man Sentenced to Federal Prison for Distributing Nearly One Million Fentanyl Pills

APPLETON, Wis. – An Appleton man was given a 15-year prison sentence by Senior United States District Judge William C. Griesbach on Monday, according to a news statement.

Randy D. Mack, who is 36 years old, was found guilty of trying to have fentanyl with the plan to sell it. Court records show that in December 2022, officials intercepted a UPS package that was meant for Mack. Inside, they found 56,000 fake Percocet pills with fentanyl.

It was found that Mack had given out almost a million fentanyl pills in Arizona, Michigan, and Wisconsin. He paid people to hide the pills in their luggage so that they could be sent on commercial planes.

“There isn’t a pill in Fox Valley that doesn’t have my name on it,” Mack said in an interview.

The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) says that Mexican drug gangs often make fake pills and bring them into the United States. The DEA seized more than 80 million fake pills that had fentanyl in them just in 2023.

The case was looked into by the DEA and the drug unit from the Lake Winnebago Area Metropolitan Enforcement Group.
