Auto Theft Suspect Allegedly Attempts to Sell a Moped Back to Its Rightful Owner
Henderson, Kentucky — An Evansville man is facing car theft charges after reportedly attempting to sell a stolen motorbike back to its rightful owner.
According to Evansville Police, the victim made contact with Charles Connolly on Facebook, who was unknowingly attempting to sell him his stolen moped. When they agreed to meet, the victim notified the police.
According to police, Connolly attempted to flee when they arrived. He was eventually apprehended in the neighborhood and taken into custody.
Authorities said they discovered the victim’s stolen moped as well as another that was allegedly stolen.
Connolly said he was sold the moped by another individual, however, police confirmed that person was caught before the motorcycle was reported stolen.
Connolly was accused of car theft and resisting law authorities. He is now held at the Vanderburgh County Jail.
