Because of Operation Clean Sweep Ii, 25 Child Predators Are Charged in Oklahoma
TULSA, OKLA —
United States Attorney Clint Johnson said on Tuesday that 25 child predators were charged after Operation Clean Sweep II began.
As of April, 25 people have been charged with sex crimes, and since then, many more have been found.
“Data collected by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children shows a 300% increase of online coercion and enticements of minors across the United States,” U.S. Attorney Johnson said. “My office is committed to working with law enforcement to help train, educate online safety, and actively pursue those who try to exploit children within the Northern District of Oklahoma.”
Operation Clean Sweep II works with more than 12 different federal, state, and tribal law enforcement agencies to find child predators, examine them, and bring them to justice.
Over 525 people on the sex offender registration list were checked during this action. More than 50 of them did not meet the requirements of the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act (SORNA).
“Making and spreading materials about sexual abuse of children is a horrible crime that has no place in our society,” said Lester R. Hayes Jr., special agent in charge of HSI Dallas. “HSi, working alongside our partners in the Tornado Alley Child Exploitation and Trafficking Task Force, will persist in our mission to apprehend those who seek to exploit our children via social media platforms.”
