A lady from Iowa who blogs about “harmful chemicals and other toxins” pleaded guilty to poisoning her husband with eyedrops, according to court papers.

Daisy Zantjer, 39, was accused in August with two charges of providing hazardous substances and domestic violence resulting in physical injury, according to Marion County court records. Zantjer pled guilty to one of each count on Thursday, according to an order accepting the plea and establishing the sentence.

The charges were filed with the following information: “Daisy Zantjer did admit during an interview to administering a harmful substance, on two separate occasions, called tetrahydrozoline hydrochloride to her husband Allan Zantjer, in July of 2023.”

“On or about the above date and time, the Defendant, Daisy Zantjer did administer a harmful substance known as Tetrahdrozoline to her husband, Allan Zantjer.” Meanwhile, the domestic abuse charging documents elaborate: “On or about the above-stated date and time, the Defendant committed domestic assault against Allan Zantjer, causing injury to him by giving him Tetrahydrozoline in his drink without his knowledge.”

According to Law&Crime, a few years ago, a woman with the same name published a series of LinkedIn blog articles warning about toxins in everyday household products. Pleasantville Police Chief Joe Mrstik previously told the publication that the inventor of the anti-toxin and the admitted poisoner “appears to be” the same person.

On October 30, 2018, Daisy Zantjer posted the following message: “I am a Christian woman who wants to do right by her family and part of that is keeping them free from harmful chemicals and other toxins that could destroy their body.”

“It’s like feeding someone arsenic,” the author wrote in a LinkedIn blog post on November 1, 2018. “It won’t kill the victim right away. “It is slowly killing them.”

The posts looked to be intended to encourage people to shop at organic businesses. One message reads, “I want to see others who care about themselves join me in being toxic and financially free.” If you decide you want to spend your money at a toxic-free, organic store, please message me and I will provide you with my website.”

Zantjer was detained by local and state police on July 30, 2024. Authorities initially jailed her on a $12,000 cash or surety bond, but after her guilty plea, the bond amount was cut to $6,000 cash or surety. Zantjer’s sentencing date is set for November 7.
