Body Cam Footage Reveals Instagram Model’s Arrest for ‘Pink Cocaine’ Following Fatal Miami Crash
Newly released body camera footage shows the arrest of a social media model accused of causing a tragic downtown Miami vehicle crash last month while on a cocktail of chemicals known as “pink cocaine.”
Maecee Marie Lathers, 24, was detained shortly after crashing her Mercedes into a Range Rover and a Suzuki at 7 a.m. on August 10, according to local station WTVJ-TV. Two persons were killed, and two more were injured.
According to court records, the Instagram model with over 13,000 followers faces ten criminal accusations, including vehicular murder, reckless driving, driving with a suspended license, causing harm, and abandoning the scene of death.
According to WTVJ-TV, Lathers admitted to police that she used tusi, a party drug commonly known as pink cocaine, during her detention. According to police, Lathers claimed to have a crystal ball and was from the future. State prosecutors eventually released a test report that revealed multiple substances in her system but no alcohol.
The Miami Gardens resident was placed under house arrest after posting bond, according to the station. However, she returned to jail after two DUI manslaughter charges were added at a court hearing on Tuesday.
USA TODAY contacted Lathers’ attorney for comment but had not received a response by Friday night.

Miami police published body camera footage to numerous media sources, showing Lathers on the ground, topless, and heavily breathing after the Aug. 10 collision.
Officers handcuff her and she is seen yelling and sounds incoherent.
“She is on tusi. “She said that right now,” one officer stated in the footage. “She’s like, ‘Oh, I’m from the future.'”
According to the Miami Herald, police said witnesses prevented Lathers from fleeing the site of the incident. Upon arrival, officers discovered her vomiting.
What is tusi, often known as pink cocaine?
Tusi, also known as 2C, is a pink powder that contains psychoactive chemicals such as ketamine, MDMA (ecstasy), methamphetamine, and opiates, according to a paper published last year in the National Center For Biotechnology Information by New York University professor Joseph J. Palamar.
Despite its moniker, the substance rarely contains cocaine, according to the report.
“The tusi phenomenon also has the potential to complicate drug research as unknown exposure to drugs like ketamine and MDMA will lead to underreporting of use,” the researcher stated. ”
Tusi is an abbreviation for “tusibi” and is alternatively spelled “tuci” or “tucibi,” according to News Nation. The synthetic substance allegedly originates in Colombia and is illegally distributed in the United States.
Abraham Ismael and Jesus Rubio were killed in a collision
The Miami Herald reports that Abraham Ismael and Jesus Rubio were killed in the crash for which Lathers is charged.
Ismael, a father with a teenage kid, was heading to work in a Suzuki with his fiancée, Juanita Hernandez, and his buddy Rubio when the accident occurred. According to the Miami Herald, first responders extricated Ismael from the wreckage, where he perished at a local hospital, while Rubio was pronounced dead on the site.
Hernandez got facial and arm cuts. The incident caused minor injuries to the Range Rover’s driver, a 23-year-old guy.
“It has been weeks of great anguish, and the ashes have already been delivered to us,” Hernandez wrote in Spanish on Ismael’s GoFundMe page on August 29.
