Bodycam Footage Released Deadly Trump Assassination Attempt at Pennsylvania Rally Unveiled by Butler Police
BUTLER, Pennsylvania – Fox News Digital got police bodycam video on Thursday through a records request. It shows two officers trying to stop Thomas Matthew Crooks on a roof just seconds before he is said to have tried to kill former President Trump at a campaign rally last month.
The video shows how two officers from the Butler Township Police Department tried desperately to stop Crooks just before he fired his DPMS AR-15 gun, killing Corey Comparatore and hurting two others. The bullet hit former President Trump in the ear.
“F—— this close, bro. It was later heard on a bodycam video released Thursday that the cop who was lifted said, “Dude, he turned around on me.”
It is possible to see one cop taking another officer up to the roof where Crooks was working, which is about 12 feet above the ground.
Butler Township Manager Thomas Knights told Fox News Digital that Crooks pointed his gun at the officer who climbed the building. The officer eventually ducks his head, loses his grip on the edge of the roof, and falls about eight feet to the ground, spraining his ankle.
Near the end, they catch Crooks as police circle his body after countersnipers shot and killed him.
“I’m really pissed off. In the bodycam video, you can hear another officer say, “We couldn’t find him.”
The cop who was pushed up to the roof says, “Before you motherf—s came up here, I popped my head up there like an idiot by myself, dude.” He then turned around, and I fell and started calling out, “Bro, bro!” from the top of the roof. Is it possible that we’re not on the same frequency?”
Butler Township PD Lt. Matthew Pearson told a local news source that the cop couldn’t pull out his gun because he was hanging from the building.
After a few seconds, Crooks fired and hit Trump in the right ear. Three other people at the rally were also shot. Corey Comperatore, 50, was killed while guarding his family.
David Dutch and James Copenhaver were hurt at the gathering when they were shot. Since then, both of them have gone back home. Dutch gave Fox News an exclusive statement on the fatal event on Wednesday.
Toward the end of the bodycam video, police officers can be seen standing on the roof over Crooks’ dead body.
The video is the most recent important piece of information coming out into the public eye that tries to explain what happened that day and what was done to stop Crooks.
There has been a lot of pointing of fingers between the different local, state, and federal agencies that were involved in the shooting about the security holes that let the killing happen.
Ronald Rowe, the acting director of the Secret Service, said that a video showing someone moving along a roof minutes before former President Trump was shot proves a “failure.”
The victim, Copenhaver, took the video, which was only available to Fox News Digital. It shows a person walking across the roof of the American Glass Research (AGR) building just before shots were fired at Trump’s gathering.
The FBI had already said that Crooks drove to the rally spot on the day of the shooting at 11 a.m. and stayed there for an hour before going home.
Crooks didn’t come back to the scene until 3:50 p.m. Local police officers were doing their jobs when they first saw him around 5:10 p.m., which was about 50 minutes before Trump took the stage, according to documents Fox News Digital got from Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, who got them from the Beaver County Emergency Services Unit (ESU).
The FBI says that when Crooks got back to the rally site, he flew a drone about 200 yards from where Trump was going to talk. After the fact, the FBI said that the drone did not take any pictures or movies and that no memory card was found in it.
At 5:30 p.m., police in the area took a picture of Crooks and sent it to command.
In a text message, a cop sent a picture of Crooks and wrote, “Kid learning around the building we are in.” “AGR I think it is. His eyes were on the stage, and I saw him with a range finder. As a reminder. If you want to warn SS shooters to be careful.
The cop also said, “I lost sight of him.”
It said in a follow-up message, “Call it in to command and have a uniform check it out.”
At 6:12 p.m., the “kid” was killed by a counter-sniper who had started fire on the rallygoers.
Michael Slupe, the sheriff of Butler County, told the New York Post that the cops who stopped Crooks probably kept Trump from dying by distracting him enough.
“If I’m interrupted, and I move my gun, you are going to have to reassess that whole situation at this point, so yes, you can make a case that those two officers saved the president’s life,” Slupe told the news site.
Slupe said, “Timing is everything,” and the shooter’s attention was broken, giving Trump the seconds he needed to turn his head so the bullet missed him.
He asked, “Can you imagine 10 seconds before that?” “That the president was looking straight ahead and where that bullet could have potentially landed.”
Fox News Digital is looking at the video from the body cam. This post is going to be changed.
