Bodycam Footage Reveals OC Deputies Fatally Shooting Suspect Accused of Decapitating His Parents
San Juan Capistrano, Calif. — The Orange County Sheriff’s Department released horrifying bodycam footage Thursday of deputies opening fire on a man suspected of decapitating his parents in their mobile home in San Juan Capistrano.
On the morning of July 9, authorities responded to a domestic assault report and found a gory crime scene at the San Juan Mobile Estates.
The suspect’s parents, Ronald Gerdvil, 77, and Antoinette Gerdvil, 79, were found decapitated and mangled alongside their deceased dog.
Deputies discovered the suspect, Joseph Gerdvil, shortly after. He was covered in blood, driving a golf cart that had been stolen from a maintenance worker.
Footage shows the suspect approaching a deputy with his revolver pulled. The deputy asks him to go on the ground, but Gerdvil, 41, refuses.
A deputy was involved in the shooting at that point. Gerdvil was in stable condition when admitted to the hospital.
The Orange County District Attorney’s Office has accused Gerdvil with two charges of homicide.
