Ohio’s legislature overrode a veto by Governor Mike DeWine to pass House Bill 68, reflecting a broader national trend where states have sought to limit access to gender-affirming care. The ACLU’s impending lawsuit, set to be filed before the law’s enactment in April, aims to safeguard the constitutional rights of transgender youth to necessary medical care.
Critics of the bill argue that it not only infringes on personal freedoms but also contradicts established medical consensus on the efficacy and safety of gender-affirming treatments.
