Californians Will Get $565.43 Each as Part of the $3.6 Million Amazon Settlement, and Alaskans Will Get $1,650 PFD

CALIFORNIA – People in California who worked for Amazon between July 22, 2017, and November 7, 2023, may be able to get a one-time payment from a $3 million settlement. A case against Amazon said the company didn’t pay its workers enough for overtime, especially if they got signing or sign-on bonuses during those weeks. The settlement ends the lawsuit. Amazon says it did nothing wrong, but it has agreed to pay $3.6 million to end the case. Each worker should get around $565.43, but that depends on how much Amazon pays. They don’t have to fill out any forms to get paid.

In the meantime, people in Alaska are looking forward to the Permanent Fund Dividend (PFD), which this year gives each person about $1,650. Since 1982, the money has been given out every year. It comes from oil and mining earnings. It changes based on how much cash the state has. This year, politicians chose to help Alaskans out financially by giving more.

Help with money is available through community programs in Evanston and Fresno.
Some groups are getting help from programs in Evanston, Illinois, and Fresno, California, among other places in the country. 150 families in Evanston will get $500 every month for a year. These households live in places where people were unfairly denied services in the past. Families must have little money and young children to be eligible. Fresno’s program also gives $500 a month to families in need to help even out incomes and help people who are having a hard time.
