Chicago Overnight Violence 7 Shot, 2 Killed in 5-Hour Span, Police Report
CHICAGO — Chicago police say that at least seven people were shot and killed in six separate events across the city over five hours overnight.
As of early Sunday morning, police say they have no one in arrest for any of the shootings.
Just before 1 a.m. Sunday, cops heard of the first fatal shooting in the 11500 block of South LaSalle Street, which is in the West Pullman neighborhood on Chicago’s Far South Side.
Police say that when they got to the scene of the crime, they saw a 38-year-old guy on the ground who had been shot in the head. At the scene, they said he was dead. A witness told police that they saw a red two-door car leave the scene of the crime.
Police say the other shooting death happened just after 1:30 a.m. in the 4600 block of West Monroe Street, in the Austin neighborhood on the West Side of the city.
Police say that when they got to the scene, they found a 25-year-old guy who had been shot in the back. The police said that man was dead at the scene. At the same time, cops say a 34-year-old man was shot and is in critical condition at a nearby hospital.
As the police looked into it more, they found that both men were shot by an unknown man who then ran away on foot.
On top of those four overnight killings, Chicago police also reported the following:
Around 12:45 a.m., a concerned driver saw a man who had not been named not responding in the 700 block of North Halsted Street in River West.
When police arrived, they saw that the victim, who looked to be between 20 and 30 years old, had been shot in the head and was taken to a nearby hospital in serious condition.
Around 1:30 a.m., a 28-year-old man was walking outside in the 2600 block of West Cullerton Street in the Little Village area on the Southwest Side of the city when he heard shots and felt something hit him on the side of the face.
The man got a small cut, and he went to a nearby hospital on his own. He was listed as being in good health when police arrived.
A 26-year-old guy was shot outside around 3 a.m. on the 4400 block of South Wallace Street in New City on the South Side. He was hit by an SUV that was driving by.
the man was shot in the foot and taken to a nearby hospital, where he is in good health.
At nearly 4:30 a.m., in the 3700 block of N. Halsted St. in Lake View, police say a 23-year-old man was fighting with another man outside when the other man pulled out a gun and shot the 23-year-old. The other man then ran away from the scene.
Police say the person was shot in the leg and was taken to a nearby hospital where they are in good health.
