Claims Ohio Mother’s 17-Month-Old Kid Hurt in Flash-Bang Explosion During Erroneous Police Raid!

CNS NewsCourtney Price, an Ohio mother, is calling for an investigation into a police raid that she claims resulted in injuries to her 17-month-old son, Waylon. The incident, captured on a doorbell camera, occurred at her aunt’s home in a Cleveland suburb. Price alleges that a flash-bang grenade, used by the Elyria Police Special Response Team during the raid, injured her son, who was on a ventilator at the time.

The police were executing a search warrant related to a minor connected to a burglary. However, Price contends that the raid’s execution, particularly the use of a flash-bang grenade, was excessively forceful. She reports that the explosion blew out a window, causing Waylon to be hospitalized with burns, glass injuries, and chemical pneumonitis from the flash-bang chemicals.

The police department disputes Price’s claims, stating that the child did not sustain visible injuries at the scene and denying the allegation of chemical exposure. Despite these assertions, Price’s distress was evident, as she described being handcuffed and unable to attend to her son immediately during the raid.

The incident has raised concerns about the methods used by law enforcement in executing search warrants, especially in residential areas. Price’s aunt, Redia Jennings, also expressed unease, noting that this was not the first police visit to her home searching for a suspect who does not reside there.

The family’s sense of security has been deeply shaken, and they are considering legal action against the police department. This case has caught the attention of the city’s mayor, who expressed deep concern and assured that an investigation is underway.

The review includes examining bodycam footage from the raid, which is expected to be released to the public. This incident underscores the ongoing debate over police tactics and the need for accountability, especially in situations involving vulnerable individuals like children.
