(Michigan City, IN) – A Chicago woman spent Christmas behind bars after she was allegedly caught with cocaine pressed into the size of a golf ball in Michigan City.
According to Michigan City Police, 28 year old Michelle Jackson was a passenger in a vehicle clocked speeding on Michigan Boulevard about 3 a.m. Monday.
During a traffic stop, police said a plastic bag containing nine grams of cocaine about the size of a golf ball was found stuffed between the front passenger seat and the seat belt buckle where she had been sitting.
About five grams of marijuana was allegedly recovered from inside a pocket in her jacket, police said.
According to court documents, Jackson denied having any knowledge about the cocaine being in the vehicle. The search was conducted after police detected an odor of burnt marijuana coming from the vehicle.
She was still being held in the La Porte County jail this morning on $15,000 bond. Jackson could face as much as a six year sentence.
