A woman from Florida sought refuge in Madrid, Spain during her difficult divorce and has now vanished under suspicious circumstances, according to authorities.
During December, Ana Maria Knezevic, 40, relocated to an apartment in Madrid, Spain for a short break amid her difficult divorce from her Serbian husband.
In early February, officials announced that Knezevic had vanished from her rented apartment in Spain under mysterious circumstances.
Following her unexpected disappearance, officials revealed that an individual, whose face was hidden by a motorcycle helmet, was seen in blurry video footage deactivating the security cameras at Knezevic’s residence. It is alleged that the motorcyclist painted over the lenses.

The following day, a string of questionable text messages was sent from Knezevic’s cell phone to two of her closest friends.
According to her friend Sanna Rameau, the messages were sent in both English and Spanish, as reported by the Associated Press.
The messages suggested that Kenzevic was swept into a whirlwind romance and had chosen to elope with her new boyfriend.
“I met someone wonderful!! The messages stated that he has a summer house 2H (hours) from Madrid. “We’re heading there now and I’ll be staying for a few days.” The signal is unreliable. I will give you a call once I return.
Shortly after, another message was sent. Yesterday after therapy, I felt like taking a walk, and he came up to me on the street! Impressive connection. It was an experience I never had before.
Rameau insisted that her 40-year-old friend would never elope with a man she had recently encountered. This behavior is extremely unsafe and reckless. I highly doubt she would do that. “She wouldn’t do that,” Rameau stated.
Rameau mentioned that the texts were not written in an unemotional and flat manner, unlike their friend’s usual texting style. “It just didn’t add up,” Rameau remarked.
Knezevic and her husband, David, were married for 13 years before they decided to go their separate ways.
The couple is the proud owner of a business in Fort Lauderdale, Florida called EOX Technology Solutions Inc.
According to records, they also possessed a residence and two additional properties in Fort Lauderdale, one of which is currently facing foreclosure.
Ana’s brother, Juan Henao, described the divorce as “nasty” during an interview with a Fort Lauderdale detective.
“There is a significant sum of money at stake to be divided between the two, and David is displeased about it,” Henao stated. We are currently unaware of David Knezevic’s location.
Rameau stated that Knezevich never expressed any fear of her husband or indicated that he was abusive. Rameau mentioned that she never expressed feeling in danger.
Authorities in Madrid and Fort Lauderdale have been informed about Kenzevic’s disappearance and have initiated investigations.
The Spain’s Missing Persons Association has shared Knezevic’s photo across the nation’s capital, but unfortunately, no responses have been received, according to spokesperson Joaquin Amills.
