DA Gascón Announces Charges Against Man for Sexual Assault of Two Boys in LA County, Seeks Additional Victims
South Gate, California – Today, Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón said that Andrew Sandoval of the city of South Gate is being charged with sexually abusing two boys in Los Angeles County between November 2015 and this year.
Investigators are looking for more victims because Sandoval has worked at dozens of schools and childcare centers in Los Angeles County. He is currently in police custody.
“The horrible nature of these crimes against children and the fact that the defendant works in schools and childcare centers is very concerning,” said District Attorney Gascón. “We are asking anyone who may have more information to come forward.” “We’re determined to get justice, and people who have the guts to speak out can make sure that those who have been hurt get justice.”
The South Gate Police Department and the Los Angeles Police Department are both looking into the case. After more research, it was found that there may be more victims.
South Gate Police Chief Darren Arakawa said, “The South Gate Police Department will always work hard with our local, county, and federal partners to look into any crime against children.” “The seriousness of this case makes it clear that we need to spend money on the tools we need to find, investigate, and bring to justice people who are suspected of any kind of child abuse or exploitation.” One shocking case in particular, and we will keep following the leads that police have found during the course of this investigation. We won’t stop until all of our leads have been used up.
Police are reaching out to dozens of schools and child care centers where Sandoval worked as part of their ongoing investigation to find out what his duties were and how long he worked there. After the list of schools and child care centers has been checked, it will be made public.
Andrew Louie Sandoval (born September 24, 1996) is charged in case 24DWCF00722 with seven counts of lewd act upon a child under 14; one count of sodomy with a child 10 years old or younger; two counts of oral copulation with a child 10 years old or younger; and one count of having more than 600 images of child or youth porn.
On August 13, Sandoval will be tried in Dept. J of the Norwalk Courthouse.
In Los Angeles County, Sandoval is accused of sexually assaulting four to nine-year-old children on different times between November 2015 and this year.
Police in South Gate found electronic proof and what they say are hundreds of child pornography images on Sandoval’s device.
Sandoval was caught on July 24.
Sandoval is being held on a $7,050,000 bond. He could spend the rest of his life in jail if found guilty as charged.
The South Gate Police Department is looking into this case. The investigation is getting help from the Los Angeles Police Department.
