Delivery Driver Strikes Infant, Then Places Baby Back in Stroller Florida Police Report
Miami, Florida. A Florida delivery driver returned a 4-month-old toddler to his stroller after striking the young boy and his mother in a hit-and-run accident, according to authorities.
According to Miami-Dade police, the mother was walking her dog and pushing her son in a stroller when the motorist struck them at an intersection in Miami on Thursday, August 22.
The infant was flung from his stroller and landed on the ground, while his mother, 30, was “knocked off her feet,” according to authorities.
Following the crash, detectives stated that the driver got out of the vehicle, positioned the stroller upright, and returned the infant inside before driving away.
According to WTVJ, an NBC affiliate in South Florida, the mother suffered a skull fracture and a brain bleed, while her infant sustained a forehead laceration. Police reported that both were treated at Memorial Regional Hospital.
Sarah Naybeth Parra-Ovalles, 45, has been charged with fleeing the scene of a serious bodily injury crash.
According to WTVJ, Parra-Ovalles worked as an Amazon delivery worker and was arrested after detectives interviewed a witness who had surveillance cameras recording the crash.
Although authorities did not identify the company for which Parra-Ovalles works, WTVJ and CBS News station WFOR reported that an Amazon spokeswoman issued the following statement: “This is a sad occurrence, and our prayers are with the family. We’re looking into the incident and will assist law enforcement with their investigation. “The driver in question is no longer delivering for Amazon.”
