CheapNailsalonsnearmeIn a disturbing incident in Florida, Tamesha Knighten, a 51-year-old nurse, has been charged with multiple counts of felony animal cruelty. The Polk County Sheriff’s Office reported that Knighten is accused of poisoning two cats, Luna and Pancake, and a pregnant Chihuahua named Daisy, all belonging to her neighbors.

The pets exhibited severe distress symptoms, including choking and foaming at the mouth, indicative of poisoning. Tragically, they died within hours of each other, highlighting the severity of the situation. Knighten’s neighbors reported her previous threats to poison their pets if they entered her yard, adding a premeditated aspect to the crime.

On the day of the incident, Knighten was seen acting suspiciously near the shared fence line and was also noticed yelling at the victims’ children. Further investigation by the sheriff’s deputies uncovered a white Styrofoam bowl near Knighten’s air conditioning unit. This bowl contained a mix of a white meaty substance and a dark material, suspected to be the poisonous concoction.

Despite Knighten’s initial denial of owning such bowls, a similar pack was found in her pantry. Lab tests confirmed that the substance in the bowl contained Phorate, a potent pesticide used in insecticides, which would have caused the animals’ painful symptoms and subsequent death.

Sheriff Grady Judd condemned Knighten’s actions, emphasizing the horrific nature of the pets’ deaths and the significant emotional impact on their owners. Knighten, who insisted on her innocence despite overwhelming evidence, now faces the consequences of her actions, including charges for depositing poison in a public area, in addition to animal cruelty.
