Fort Smith Man Sentenced to 20 Years for Sex Crimes Against California Teen
FORT SMITH, Ark. – According to court records, a Fort Smith man recently pled guilty and was sentenced to 20 years in prison for sex crimes committed against a California adolescent.
Sean Schiemann, 49, was scheduled to stand trial on November 12, but during a hearing on October 23, he pleaded guilty to sexual assault, online harassment of a child, and two charges of possessing child sexual abuse materials.
Schiemann was sentenced to 20 years in jail, with an additional 20 years suspended, according to court records.
On June 1, Fort Smith police announced in a news release that they had been approached by law enforcement officials in California about a 15-year-old girl who allegedly had an internet interaction with Schiemann.
Schiemann purchased an airline ticket for a youngster from California to Arkansas and picked her up at Northwest Arkansas National Airport (XNA), according to the press announcement.
The FSPD and US Marshals launched an investigation to locate the two. Both were eventually discovered at Schiemann’s home in Fort Smith. His booking indicates that he was arrested on May 31.
In addition to his punishment, Schiemann is required to register as a sex offender and is prohibited from contacting the victim or her family.
